"...I LEARNED TO BE A BETTER LISTENER AND GAINED MORE COMPASSION... " Alice
June, 2014: My name is Alice, and my goal is to tell you how being involved with WORD ministries changed my life. I had been incarcerated in 2002 and a group of Christian women came there; At that time I gave my life to Christ and vowed someday I will pay it forward. That I would come back to jails and let these women know if Christ did it for me He can do it for you!!! And that's when I got involved with WORD ministries!!!
Our weekly meetings were full of praise, worshipping and praying for all these women that were in jail. It strengthen my walk with the Lord and indeed my prayer life.
I learned to be a better listener and gained more compassion. I looked forward to our monthly visits at the jail and was so excited to see these ladies and their love for Christ.
As for Pastor Janice she has got to be one of the most strongest ladies I have ever met in my life. She made a huge impact on my life that I will keep with me forever. Thank you W.O.R.D. for everything you taught and for showing me how to become a better woman in Christ. - Sincerely your sister in Christ, Alice L. (Rom.8:28)
Hi Pastor Janice. I remember the first time we met, it was in Pastor Sell's class, and I had heard of your Ladies group and really wanted to join. I felt comfortable and totally blessed being part of WORD. I loved how we sang and had our mini bible studies, (I always loved that). I always felt more connected with our group because we were all women, and could talk about anything and pray for each other. It was awesome to be able to go to Atlanta Georgia to Bishop TD Jakes. We even got to pray for a few ladies who were just down and out and happened to stop by our class "by accident", but we all knew it wasn't by accident. I also remember our first Women's Symposium that was incredible and all were blessed. Thank you for always being there for me, praying for me and my family. Hope to see you very soon. Yolanda R. " You will never meet anyone who does not matter to God." (
You can affect a change in the life of another person. You have skills and talents to offer someone that may have lost their way in life or perhaps they do not know the path to take. I will never forget receiving a letter from one of the women after we ministered a worship service inside of a correctional facility. She said, "I want to change, but I don't know how." I am certain there are many in the same condition. You have the privilege of positively impacting the lives of many women--especially female ex-offenders as they reintegrate back into their families, the workplace, and the community. Families and communities need you.
I encourage you to contact us; Become a mentor today. Don't wait because lives are depending on the gift(s) only you have to give. It only takes "one" person--one person to believe in another. And that is "you."
My greatest joy in life has been to help others recognize they still have value regardless of their mistakes and circumstances, and to teach them to love themselves. Everybody needs somebody especially during those challenging times that come with the territory of life. You can make it happen.
-Abundant Love, Pastor Janice
